What is a sample ballot?

What’s on my ballot?

Every office on your ballot affects your daily life, from national laws to fixing potholes. Here's what each one does.

  • Makes national laws on things like Social Security, healthcare, and taxes for all Americans.

  • Represents your district in Congress and decides how federal tax dollars get spent.

  • Runs Ohio's state government and signs state laws that affect schools, roads, and jobs.

  • Ohio's top lawyer, whose job is to protect consumers from scams and enforce state laws.

  • Watches how governments spend your tax money and checks for waste or fraud.

  • Runs Ohio's elections, whose job it is make sure voting is fair, secure, and accessible.

  • Manages Ohio's money and makes sure the state can pay its bills.

  • The highest court in Ohio that interprets state laws and decides big legal questions.

  • Make Ohio's state laws and decide the budget for schools, healthcare, and public services.

  • Run your county government—managing roads, public health, parks, and the county budget.

Voter ID Information

A valid form of identification is required to vote early in person and on Election Day.

Did you know that Ohio’s voter ID laws have changed since the last election? To vote in person this year, Ohio voters must present one of these valid photo IDs when voting in person early and on election day – those include an Ohio Driver’s License, an Ohio State-Issued ID, a U.S. Passport, or a Military ID. If you are voting by mail/ absentee, you DO NOT need a photo ID to cast your ballot, but you must request a vote-by-mail ballot & return it on time to your county board of elections.  Make sure you think through HOW you will vote based on what ID you have available.  

A student ID is NOT a form of acceptable ID to vote.

  • Interim ID Form Issued by
    the Ohio BMV

  • A US Passport

  • A US Passport Card

  • US Military ID Card

  • Ohio National Guard ID Card

  • US Department of Veterans
